The glass
What a Genesis windscreen usually carries
Before we quote a Genesis, we work out what is actually in the glass. On current Genesis models that usually means acoustic interlayer, head-up display zone and rain and light sensor.
Behind the mirror sits a single forward-facing camera mounted behind the glass, just ahead of the mirror, feeding Genesis Active Safety Control. The windscreen has to carry the right bracket and a clear optical zone in front of the lens, and the camera is recalibrated once the new glass is bonded in.
Genesis cars are heavily optioned as standard, so assume acoustic glass and a display zone unless the build says otherwise.

Genesis Active Safety Control and why calibration matters
Genesis Active Safety Control reads the road through the windscreen, so replacing the glass moves the camera and the system has to be recalibrated rather than merely reconnected.
Genesis calls its driver-assistance package Genesis Active Safety Control. The part that concerns us is the camera behind the windscreen. It reads lane markings, the vehicle ahead and, on most systems, pedestrians, and it does that through the glass.
Take the old windscreen out and put a new one in, even a perfect fit, and the camera is no longer looking at the world from exactly the same angle. A few tenths of a degree at the glass becomes metres of error at a hundred metres down the road. That is why Genesis Active Safety Control needs recalibrating after a replacement rather than merely being reconnected.
On a Genesis the calibration is more often a static one against targets than a road drive, which means it needs space and a level surface. We say at the quote whether yours does and what it adds, and we arrange it as part of the job.

Can you replace a Genesis windscreen at my home or work?
Yes, and that is how we do most Genesis jobs. We bring the glass, the urethane and the tools to the vehicle. We need room to open both front doors and somewhere reasonably sheltered if it is raining.
Does my Genesis need the camera recalibrated after a new windscreen?

What decides the price of a Genesis windscreen?
On a Genesis the single biggest step is whether Genesis Active Safety Control is fitted, because that adds a calibration to the job as well as narrowing the glass. The build year and grade decide the rest. Our cost guide explains each factor.
Can a chip in a Genesis windscreen be repaired instead?
