The glass
What a Cupra windscreen usually carries
Before we quote a Cupra, we work out what is actually in the glass. On current Cupra models that usually means acoustic interlayer and rain and light sensor.
Behind the mirror sits a single forward-facing camera mounted behind the glass, just ahead of the mirror, feeding Front Assist. The windscreen has to carry the right bracket and a clear optical zone in front of the lens, and the camera is recalibrated once the new glass is bonded in.
Cupra is a recent arrival here, so we confirm the exact build with the importer's specification before quoting.

Front Assist and why calibration matters
Front Assist reads the road through the windscreen, so replacing the glass moves the camera and the system has to be recalibrated rather than merely reconnected.
Cupra calls its driver-assistance package Front Assist. The part that concerns us is the camera behind the windscreen. It reads lane markings, the vehicle ahead and, on most systems, pedestrians, and it does that through the glass.
Take the old windscreen out and put a new one in, even a perfect fit, and the camera is no longer looking at the world from exactly the same angle. A few tenths of a degree at the glass becomes metres of error at a hundred metres down the road. That is why Front Assist needs recalibrating after a replacement rather than merely being reconnected.

Can you replace a Cupra windscreen at my home or work?
Yes, and that is how we do most Cupra jobs. We bring the glass, the urethane and the tools to the vehicle. We need room to open both front doors and somewhere reasonably sheltered if it is raining.
Does my Cupra need the camera recalibrated after a new windscreen?

What decides the price of a Cupra windscreen?

Can a chip in a Cupra windscreen be repaired instead?
