The glass
What an MG windscreen usually carries
Before we quote an MG, we work out what is actually in the glass. On current MG models that usually means rain sensor on higher grades and acoustic glass on some models.
Behind the mirror sits a single forward-facing camera mounted behind the glass, just ahead of the mirror, feeding MG Pilot. The windscreen has to carry the right bracket and a clear optical zone in front of the lens, and the camera is recalibrated once the new glass is bonded in.
MG Pilot is standard on most current MG models, so assume a recalibration is needed unless the build says otherwise.

MG Pilot and why calibration matters
MG Pilot reads the road through the windscreen, so replacing the glass moves the camera and the system has to be recalibrated rather than merely reconnected.
MG calls its driver-assistance package MG Pilot. The part that concerns us is the camera behind the windscreen. It reads lane markings, the vehicle ahead and, on most systems, pedestrians, and it does that through the glass.
Take the old windscreen out and put a new one in, even a perfect fit, and the camera is no longer looking at the world from exactly the same angle. A few tenths of a degree at the glass becomes metres of error at a hundred metres down the road. That is why MG Pilot needs recalibrating after a replacement rather than merely being reconnected.
Coverage varies by grade on an MG far more than by model year, so we confirm it from your build rather than assuming. If it needs calibrating, it is in the quote, not added later.

MG glass questions
Can you replace an MG windscreen at my home or work?
Yes, and that is how we do most MG jobs. We bring the glass, the urethane and the tools to the vehicle. We need room to open both front doors and somewhere reasonably sheltered if it is raining.
Does my MG need the camera recalibrated after a new windscreen?

What decides the price of an MG windscreen?

Can a chip in an MG windscreen be repaired instead?
